Optimal use: To achieve the best results when using glue, it is important to have a relative humidity of less than 60% and an ambient air temperature between 18C to 25C (65 F to 77F), while avoiding direct sunlight. Before applying the patch, it is essential to clean the patching area on the boat as well as the contact side of the patch. The recommended patching solvent and cleaner is Methyl Ethel Ketone (M.E.K.).
Warning: The product contains Polyurethane. M.E.K. can be harmful if inhaled and cause eye irritations. Inhalation may also cause sensitization, and repeated exposure can lead to skin dryness and cracking. It is important to keep the product away from sources of ignition, refrain from smoking, and avoid breathing vapor or spray. In case of contact with eyes, rinse immediately with plenty of fresh water and seek medical attention. Use the product only in well-ventilated areas, and avoid smoking or working near open flames, sparks, or other heat sources.
Storage: Glue and all chemical materials are considered dangerous goods and should be kept out of reach of children. It is important to store them in a cool and safe spot to preserve product quality for up to 3 years. Before use, it is recommended to mix 5% hardener with the glue, with the maximum increase to 10% in cold weather (10C-15C) or high humidity (50-75%). It is crucial not to exceed the 10% mixture limit. M.E.K. serves as a thinner for PVC glue, and can be added up to 10% to reactivate the glue if it hardens. Glue mixed with hardener can be kept for up to 6 hours.
Application: Use a small painting brush to apply 1-3 layers of glue on both material surfaces, waiting 5 minutes between applications to allow the glue to dry before attaching the two pieces of material together. After applying the patch, work from the center out with something like a teaspoon to eliminate any air bubbles and apply pressure to the repaired area for at least 24 hours. It is important to wait 48 hours for the glue to cure before using it.
PVC Glue can be used as a single part, but for better results, it is recommended to use 2 Part glue (glue and hardener) to ensure overall quality of the repair and extend the bonding's lifetime. For air leak repairs, 2 Part Glue is essential. Unopened bottles of glue and hardener can be preserved for up to 3 years.
Instructions for glue layer application: 1-2 layers on new fabric surface; 2-3 layers on old fabric surface; 3-4 layers on wood or plywood surfaces; 2-3 layers on parts or aluminum surfaces. For Hypalon boat fabric, it is necessary to sand the fabric to remove the coating layer before gluing.
It is important to mix only the amount of glue needed for the repair, seal the bottle immediately, and store it in a cool area for future use. If the hardener turns into crystals or becomes sticky, it is no longer usable. To clean the area that needs repair, Methyl Hydrate, Acetone, or MEK can be used.
