Before using the glue, add 5% hardener to the mixture. In cold weather (10C-15C) or high humidity (50-75%), you can add a maximum of 10% hardener. Do not exceed a 10% mixture of hardener to the glue. M.E.K. is the thinner for PVC glue. If the glue hardens, you can add up to 10% MEK to reactivate it. Glue mixed with hardener can be kept for up to 6 hours.
Use a small painting brush to apply 1-3 layers of glue to both material surfaces. Wait 5 minutes between applications to allow the glue to dry, then attach the two pieces of material together. After applying the patch, start from the center and work outward with something like a teaspoon to force out any air bubbles. Apply pressure to the repaired area for at least 24 hours. Wait 48 hours for the glue to cure before using.
PVC glue can be used as a single part. For better results, use a 2-part glue (glue and hardener) to ensure the overall quality of the repair and extend the bonding's lifetime. Use 2-part glue for any repairs related to air leaks. Glue and hardener sealed in bottles can be kept for up to 3 years.
Instructions for glue layer application: 1-2 layers for a new fabric surface, 2-3 layers for an old fabric surface, 3-4 layers for a wood or plywood surface, and 2-3 layers for parts or an aluminum surface. If working with the fabric of a Hypalon boat, it must have a coating layer. Sanding the boat fabric to remove this coating is necessary before gluing.
Only mix the amount of glue needed for the repair. Seal the bottle immediately and store it in a cool area for future use. If the hardener turns into crystals or becomes sticky, it is no longer usable. To clean the area needing repair, use Methyl Hydrate, Acetone, or MEK.
